Tea PSA

Omg nobody here knows how to make tea the way I like it.

If you've ever spent time in Asia or the islands (Guam, Hawaii...) you'll know what good tea is. You'll know what good black tea is, and milk tea, and especially this stuff in a can.

I love you Assam Black Tea in a can.

Firstly, I can't find this stuff in Wisconsin. Maybe I haven't tried hard enough. But I've given up. But!!! I figured out how to make it myself, or at least make something that tastes eerily similar. And maybe nobody will use this. But if there's even one person out there who finds this and it makes your life better, you're welcome.

You're gonna need the following:

  • 2 quart-sized Lipton Cold Brew tea bags
  • A 12oz mason jar

Now I know what you're thinking. You're thinking, "No, no. Those tea bags are supposed to be used with 1 quart of water each." Sure, maybe if you're wanting Americanized watered down sadness. But do you want the Assam Black Tea in a can? Yes, you do.

So put some cold water over these and set your timer for 4 minutes. Not 3 minutes like it says on the box, because remember, we are not following those directions. We want strong dark tea.

Then you're gonna squeeze the tea bags. But not so hard that they bust open.

Then you'll fill a 16oz cup with ice and you'll pour the tea over. Add your simple syrup if you're going to make it sweet like the original. Or if you're watching your sugar, add stevia drops which is what I did.

TA-DA!!!!

If you want milk tea, then top it off with a little heavy cream and you'll have the perfect milk tea.
